    Good afternoon Parents and Carers,

On Tuesday, 12th November, at 6:00pm, before the P&F Meeting, Leadership will run a student protection workshop for parents. This workshop complements the work that we are already doing to create a safe school community for students, including completing Student Protection training.

This in-person session will support our parents and carers to work in partnership by helping to understand:

    • the school’s Student Protection Processes and Guidelines
    • what to do if they are worried about the safety and/or well-being of a student
    • who to talk to in the school if they are worried
    • what happens after a parent/carer tells someone about their worry
    • what they can do to keep their child/ren safe and protected

The workshop will be held in the Mount Carmel staffroom and will run for approximately 45 minutes.  We look forward to welcoming you all to this important session and invite you to stay to attend the P&F meeting at 7pm.

    Good afternoon lovely families,

I hope all of our families are travelling well.

    BOOKLISTS 2025

Last week, the students in Prep - Year Five brought home a hard copy of the required booklist for 2025. These are now also available on the parent portal.

It is our preference that families utilise the ordering options from our loyal supplier, Edsco as this ensures that all students will have all of the required items they need to begin their new school year and engage fully in the wonderful teaching and learning. You have the option to order to full list or to customise the list through Edsco.

For each book pack that is ordered through Edsco, the school does receive a small commission from Edsco which is always responsibly utilised directly for the students each year. This may be to subsidize some extra classroom art supplies, purchase extra equipment for the students to play with at lunchtime etc. This is a very generous gesture from Edsco.

Parents have the option to order online (preferred) or to complete the paper order form provided. Whichever you decide, the cut off for ordering is Monday 18 November. Ordering by this time will ensure your book pack is delivered to your preferred address on or before Monday 30 December and will include free delivery. It is really important that you check your order thoroughly upon delivery. Edsco are very reliable however it is always recommended that you check through the order to ensure it is accurate.

Edsco will still accept orders after Monday 18 November, however please be aware that you will incur a delivery fee in this case and delivery times cannot be guaranteed.

All instructions for ordering and information about delivery can be found on the front page of your booklist.

The classroom teachers have spent much time collaborating and discussing the booklist requirements for each year level. They work hard to ensure responsible decisions are made around these requirements and are always aware of minimising financial output wherever possible. For those parents who decide to source the items on the booklists yourselves, please be aware that the students require EVERY item on the booklist. For example, if the booklist states 8 exercise books, the student will need 8 exercise books. The teachers have been very explicit about each item (and number of items) on the list, so please be sure to replicate it if you decide to source the items elsewhere.

Of course, our current families who will have a prep student joining us next year, you may recall that you will not receive a booklist for the 2025 prep students. These booklists are compiled by the prep teachers then ordered directly through the school. They are also delivered directly to the school as these resources are shared out amongst the students. This seems to be the most efficient and effective process for prep students. Parents of 2025 Prep students will be billed directly through 2025 Term One school fees for the book packs.

My most genuine thanks to you all for your wonderful support of our school.

    SEMESTER TWO REPORTS

Your child/ren’s classroom and specialist teachers are working hard to complete the students’ Semester Two Summary of Achievement (report). These will be finalised for you and will become available through The Learning Dashboard in the final week of the term. I will communicate further around this as the final week draws closer. Please be sure to follow the directions in order to access The Learning Dashboard.

Please also remember that this is the only form of your child’s report that you will receive (no hard copy). When a student leaves Guardian Angels, parents no longer have access to the Parent Portal so it is important that you save and/or print the report off for any future requirement.

CREATIVE KIDS END OF YEAR MUSIC SHOWCASE

We are so blessed that many of our students bring music joyfully into our lives. All year, many of our students have been learning to play a musical instrument with our Instrumental Music friends from Creative Kidz.

On Thursday 21 November, we will be privileged to enjoy their amazing musical talents as our instrumental students perform for us at an end of year music showcase. All parents and friends are welcome to join us to share in this wonderful demonstration of their talent and passion. If you have been thinking about your child joining the Instrumental Program, this is also a great opportunity to come along and witness how this experience enriches the lives of our students.

    WHEN: Thursday 21 November

    TIME: 2:00pm

    WHERE: MC Campus (Shed)

We will open the gate on Pine Street from 1:50pm. Please enter only via this gate.

Blessings to you all for the coming weeks.

    Dear families,

Celebrating All Saints' Day – Friday 1st November

All Saints' Day, celebrated today, is a special time to honour all the saints, known and unknown. This day reminds us of the countless individuals who have lived lives of holiness and devotion. It’s a moment to reflect on the examples they set and the lessons they taught us about faith, courage, and compassion.

At our school, we encourage students to learn about and be inspired by the saints' stories. At Guardian Angels we draw from the model and examples of the Mercy Sisters led by Catherine McAuley and Franciscans led by St Francis of Assisi. They offer powerful examples of how to live with integrity, kindness, and dedication to a greater good. It is our hope to instil these values in our students, fostering a spirit of community and service.

We thank everyone who celebrated Mass with us this morning.

Teaching and Learning at Guardian Angels’

As part of the school’s EIA (Explicit Improvement Agenda) our teachers plan with the end in mind. They Design assessment tasks and learning sequences for writing that cater for many levels of achievement. They Deliver the Australian Curriculum through engaging learning sequences, using the Third Teacher to support the learning. Students are aware of what they are learning and the next steps they need to take to move their learning forward. To Determine where the students are at with their learning, our teachers participate in the moderation process.

At this week’s staff meeting, we had the pleasure of our Year Two teachers share with us the wonderful teaching and learning that is happening in their learning spaces. They have planned with the end in mind and designed and delivered engaging and creative learning opportunities to cater for all students in their class.

Year Two sounds like a very exciting place to be!
