    From the Principal

As we move towards the end of the school year, there are a number of opportunities for our community to come together to share in events, farewells and celebrations.

In the busyness that often happens at the end of year, let’s take time to remember to take time to enjoy the little everyday things with our family and friends.

To take time for ourselves, for others and to reflect:

A PSALM AS WE NEAR THE END OF TERM
Lord, the weeks are flying by!
My patience grows thin and I sometimes speak before thinking.
My energy levels go down day by day.
Some days I wonder how I will ever get through it all.
When I feel like this, Lord, give me a spirit of patience towards all.
    Enable me to remain calm.
Enable me to keep it all in perspective.
Remind me that family is everything,
My own family and the families of others.
Grant to me, Lord, a spirit of patience towards all.
When I become irritated and short with others,
Remind me that I do not really know what is happening in their lives.
    Only You, Lord, know this.
Grant to me, Lord, a spirit of patience towards all.
Give me a peace-filled day, Lord.
One which I will remember as being happy and worthwhile.
I thank you for all that You do for me each day.
    Remember me and protect me.
Grant to me, Lord, a spirit of patience towards all.
I ask for a mild, loving, patient heart and manners in the exchanges of daily life.
May I offend no-one today, but still continue to live as you would want me to.
Grant on me, Lord, a spirit of patience towards all.

    AMEN.

    From the Assistant Principal Administration

    Good afternoon lovely families,

This is such a busy and wonderful time of the year. A really fabulous opportunity to witness the way our little ones have grown up throughout the year. It’s hard to believe we will be welcoming a whole new cohort of prep angels very soon … I can remember our current preps coming to us like it was yesterday. What a privilege it is to share and spend each day with your beautiful children.

    BOOKLISTS 2025

Some weeks ago the students in Prep  - Year Five brought home a hard copy of the required booklist for 2025. These will also be uploaded and shared on the Parent Portal.

It is our preference that families utilise the ordering options from our loyal supplier, Edsco as this ensures that all students will have all of the required items they need to begin their new school year and engage fully in the wonderful teaching and learning. You have the option to order to full list or to customise the list through Edsco.

For each book pack that is ordered through Edsco, the school does receive a small commission from Edsco which is always responsibly utilised directly for the students each year. This may be to subsidize some extra classroom art supplies, purchase extra equipment for the students to play with at lunchtime etc. This is a very generous gesture from Edsco.

Parents have the option to order online (preferred) or to complete the paper order form provided. Whichever you decide, the cut off for ordering is Monday 18 November (next Monday). Ordering by this time will ensure your book pack is delivered to your preferred address on or before Monday 30 December and will include free delivery. It is really important that you check your order thoroughly upon delivery. Edsco are very reliable however it is always recommended that you check through the order to ensure it is accurate.

Edsco will still accept orders after Monday 18 November, however please be aware that you will incur a delivery fee in this case and delivery times cannot be guaranteed.

All instructions for ordering and information about delivery can be found on the front page of your booklist.

The classroom teachers have spent much time collaborating and discussing the booklist requirements for each year level. They work hard to ensure responsible decisions are made around these requirements and are always aware of minimising financial output wherever possible. For those parents who decide to source the items on the booklists yourselves, please be aware that the students require EVERY item on the booklist. For example, if the booklist states 8 exercise books, the student will need 8 exercise books. The teachers have been very explicit about each item (and number of items) on the list, so please be sure to replicate it if you decide to source the items elsewhere.

Of course, our current families who will have a prep student joining us next year, you may recall that you will not receive a booklist for the 2025 prep students. These booklists are compiled by the prep teachers then ordered directly through the school. They are also delivered directly to the school as these resources are shared out amongst the students. This seems to be the most efficient and effective process for prep students. Parents of 2025 Prep students will be billed directly through 2025 Term One school fees for the book packs.

My most genuine thanks to you all for your wonderful support of our school.

    SEMESTER TWO REPORTS

Your child/ren’s classroom and specialist teachers are working hard to complete the students’ Semester Two Summary of Achievement (report). These will be finalised for you and will become available through The Learning Dashboard in the final week of the term. I will communicate further around this as the final week draws closer. Please be sure to follow the directions in order to access The Learning Dashboard.

Please also remember that this is the only form of your child’s report that you will receive (no hard copy). When a student leaves Guardian Angels, parents no longer have access to the Parent Portal so it is important that you save and/or print the report off for any future requirement.

CREATIVE KIDS END OF YEAR MUSIC SHOWCASE

We are so blessed that many of our students bring music joyfully into our lives. All year, many of our students have been learning to play a musical instrument with our Instrumental Music friends from Creative Kidz.

On Thursday 21 November (next week), we will be privileged to enjoy their amazing musical talents as our instrumental students perform for us at an end of year music showcase. All parents and friends are welcome to join us to share in this wonderful demonstration of their talent and passion. If you have been thinking about your child joining the Instrumental Program, this is also a great opportunity to come along and witness how this experience enriches the lives of our students.

    WHEN: Thursday 21 November

    TIME:    2:00pm

    WHERE: MC Campus (Shed)

We will open the gate on Pine Street from 1:50pm. Please enter only via this gate.

    UNIFORM REMINDERS

Belonging to our wonderful school community is a true blessing. One way our students can demonstrate pride for their school is the way they wear their school uniform. Whilst I do understand that some aspects of uniforms fall into disrepair at this time of the year (eg shoes), it is really important that we, as a school community, continue to adhere to the uniform requirements for this school. I ask most respectfully that our parent community support us in this space, ensuring the students are wearing:

    • the correct (appropriate) uniform for each day of the week ie sports uniforms only on the days specified by the classroom teachers.
    • the correct shoes with the correct uniforms. I am seeing some students wearing sandshoes with the formal day uniform and they should be wearing black leather shoes with the day uniform.
    • Sandshoes that are predominantly white. Shoes such as coloured converse are not appropriate.
    • Appropriate school socks which are white socks that fold over at the ankle. The students should NOT be wearing anklet socks that only peep out of the top of their shoes.
    • Uniforms in a reasonable state/condition. This includes skirts/dresses that are not too short.
    • School hats

It is important that, as members of the school community, our students are wearing their uniforms correctly and with pride; right up until the last day of the school year. Of course we understand there may be extenuating circumstances. If this is the case, please inform your child’s teacher via an email or note. When I discuss uniform discrepancies with students, I will always ask if their teacher has received a note.

I am most grateful to you for helping to support the sense of community and belonging that aligns with uniforms within a school.

    TOYS AT SCHOOL

This week I spoke with our littlest angels (Prep – Year 2) about the increasing number of toys and trading cards (Pokémon)  that are being brought to school. At times, these toys/cards become very distracting and can cause angst amongst the students; especially if their precious belongings become damaged or lost. Please remind your little ones that toys/cards are not to be brought to school and we keep these special belongings for home. Of course there are a couple of exceptions to this, primarily when there is a very specific reason the student is bringing their toy. This would be a decision made in consultation with the student’s teacher and is perfectly acceptable.

The students are permitted to bring their basketballs etc to school with the clear understanding that if they end up over a fence that we will retrieve them as soon as we can. In addition, they do bring these balls to school with the understanding that damage can occur … I just know how precious some things are to some students and I want them to be really discerning when they decide to bring their basketballs etc to school.

Blessings to you all for the coming weeks.

    Remembrance Day

On Monday, we stopped to remember the signing of the Armistice to acknowledge the end of World War 1. At 11am on 11th November, the guns on the Western Front fell silent. On this day we remember all those who have fought and gave their lives for our country.  Thank you to our Year 6 Spirit Committee Leaders who led our liturgy and Mr Lance Lorraway for speaking.
