    From the Principal

    Dear Parents and Friends

We are looking forward to welcoming our families to our ‘2025 Parent Partnership Open Classrooms and Expo’ on Wednesday 19 February 2025.

As we welcome the start of the school year, the Parent Partnership Open Classroom and Expo provides a wonderful opportunity to centre on the learning for each child through connecting with their individual class teacher/s and their learning space, in an ‘open classroom’ experience.

Prior to the open classroom sessions, parents will receive an online SWAY via email communication.

    • This SWAY enables parents to access information about school and classroom routines, curriculum, behaviour learning, policy and processes prior to the open classroom sessions.  Importantly, the online format means that it can be accessed at a time that supports individual family and work routines.
      • Detailed information about the parent SWAY is outlined further in this communication.

How will the open classroom sessions be structured?

    • We are inviting families to attend an open classroom session together.
    • Parents are invited to visit their child’s classroom, with their child, at any time during one of the open classroom sessions.
    • Importantly, each classroom from Prep – Year 6, will be open for each of the sessions.
    • This will enable parents to visit each of their child’s classrooms, in any order.

Please find the session times below:

    3.15pm – 4.00pm: Open Classrooms Session 1 (Prep – Year 6)

    4:00pm – 4:30pm:  BREAK

    4.30pm – 5.15pm Open Classrooms Session 2 (Prep – Year 6)

    Break Time

    • When planning your classroom visit/s, please note the break time scheduled from 4:00pm to 4:30pm.
    • Classrooms will not be open during this break time.
    • We invite families to take the time to visit the ‘Aim High and Fly’ Expo, and sausage sizzle as part of the afternoon.

Please be aware that the open classroom sessions are not a time to share specific information about your child with the teacher.

Should you like to do this, please contact your teacher to arrange an alternative meeting time.

Join in the ‘Expo’ and P&F Sausage Sizzle anytime from 3:15pm until 5:15pm

The ‘Expo’ and Sausage Sizzle will be happening alongside the Open Classrooms.

    • The Expo is a wonderful opportunity to ‘Set the Sails for 2025’ as we showcase our community partners and make connections across our learning community.

We invite you to visit the Expo in the MC Campus Reflection Space (outside the new mural) anytime during the afternoon sessions.

The P&F are hosting a free sausage sizzle and raffle during the event.

Sausage sizzle tickets will be issued when you visit the expo, along with an entry into the draw for a $50 Matilda's Gelato voucher.

How can I prepare for the open classroom session?

Parents will receive an email on Wednesday 12th February 2025 for each of your child’s/ren’s year levels.

    • The email will have a link for your child’s year level for you to access the SWAY.
      • Read the SWAY for your child’s year level prior to the parent partnership session.
      • Read the SWAY from the leadership team to connect processes and policies that support our learning community. (This SWAY is the same for each year level, and you will only need to read this once).
    • Choose an open classroom session to attend and visit each of your child’s / children’s classrooms during this time.
    • Attend the session as a family, with your child.
    • Visit the ‘Aim High and Fly’ Expo in Reflection Space on the MC Campus.

We are looking forward to you joining us for this wonderful event and sharing in the spirit of our Guardian Angels’ Community.

    Volunteering at Guardian Angels

Volunteers are very welcome at Guardian Angels’ and play an important role in enriching students’ experiences.
When parents and community members can get involved in activities like reading, excursions, P&F and events, it fosters a sense of connection and support.

Before commencing as a volunteer, you are required to complete online volunteer training at the start of each calendar year.  This takes approximately 30 minutes to complete.  This training ensures that all our adults who come into contact with our students will be fully informed of their roles and responsibilities when working with students.

    Please follow the steps below:

    1. Click this link to complete online Student Protection Training Start training here
    2. Complete the ‘Volunteer Registration and Declaration Form’ (this can be accessed at the end of the online training)
    3. Print and complete the ‘Volunteer Registration and Declaration Form’ and email to pwynnum@bne.catholic.edu.au
    4. You will receive acknowledgement of your completed training and volunteer number for 2025.
