Term 3 | Week 10 - School News
Those who look for the best in me at the end of the term…
‘Then, because so many people were coming and going that they did not even have a chance to eat, Jesus said to them, "Come with me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest.’ (Mark 6:31).
In the final week of term, we have an opportunity to consider the year so far and take time to reflect and celebrate.
It is also a time when there seems to be so much going on, so many things seeking our attention, that in the busyness of each day we can find that there are just too many priorities to juggle. In the busyness, it can become easy to forget what really matters in the activities that we are doing, and it is important that in the coming break that we take time; time for ourselves, time for our families and time to reflect:
Lord, I give thanks
for those who look for the best in me
especially as we move toward the end of another Term.
I give thanks for all whose hearts touch mine
in love and kindness, in encouragement and support.
When we are busy, Lord, it is easy to forget what matters.
I place in your care all of our students and staff
Especially those who are vulnerable right now
And those You send me.
As we acknowledge our faltering energy,
Inspire us to get our priorities right and support each other
With the same care and concern
That we ourselves would like to experience.
Lord, I ask You to help me to show kindness in another’s trouble
And have courage in my own.
Remind me when I am tired or disillusioned
How important it is for us to work together as one Community
And to support one another.
Help me to find a quiet space for each other
To revive my spirit and energy;
A space you call ‘prayer’.
Amen

Book Week Photos
What a great way to end the week!!!
Last Friday, despite the rainy weather, we enjoyed our book week performance and book character parade and Year 5/6Red performed their amazing play.
Thank you to Mrs Nearhos, Mrs Bynon, Mrs Lawer and Mrs Paljakka for all your hard work preparing the script and rehearsing with the children. Thank you also to the parents, not only for your flexibility and understanding with the last minute changes due to the weather, but also for your efforts in helping your little ones create their costumes.

Sports Aerobics at Nationals!
FISAF Australia's National Championships is the highpoint of the sports aerobics competition calendar, with many athletes travelling from interstate having qualified at their State Championships. Nationals is the event where you witness the highest standard of competition.
Three of our four Sports Aerobics Teams competed last weekend at FISAF Australia National Championships with sensational results and we are so proud!
Year 2 boys - placed 7th
Year 3/4 girls - placed 4th
Year 5/6 girls - placed 5th
Well done to all of our teams for an incredible season representing Guardian Angels’.

Drop off and pick up zone volunteers
Thank you to those parents who have already so generously volunteered their time in the pick up zones. We truly appreciate your help.
We would love parent helpers in Term 4. Pick up zones operate from 8:00am – 8:25am in the morning and from 2:55pm – 3:20pm in the afternoons. It's an easy 25 mins, opening car doors, helping little people in and out of cars.
If you can spare 20-30 minutes once or twice a week please email Jenny Druce at jdruce@bne.catholic.edu.au with your preferred day, time and campus.
If I have nominated you for a shift, and it’s not suitable, please let me know.
A friendly reminder, before commencing your role as a volunteer or other personnel at our school, you are required to complete the online volunteer training. The training can be found here: https://www.bne.catholic.edu.au/students-parents/student-protection/Pages/Student-Protection-and-Code-of-Conduct-Training-for-Volunteers-and-Other-Personnel.aspx
You will need to download, print and complete your registration form, which is contained within your online training. Return it to the School Office prior to commencing your role.
Second-hand Uniform Pop-Up
The next second hand uniform pop-up will be Monday 10 October.
The shop will open between 7:45am and 8:20am on the GA campus. Each item is $5. Cash only sales.
A friendly reminder regarding the process for purchasing from the second hand shop:
- only parent volunteers, managing the second hand sales, are allowed in the storeroom
- second hand items are washed and bagged according to size so that finding stock is quick and easy
- due to the demand in short opening hours please take the item as given to you by our parent volunteers. It is not possible to sift through stock; if it is unsuitable it can be returned to the Mount Carmel School Office for a refund or exchange
- the shop has a small float on the day but the exact change is appreciated.
Demand for second hand uniform items is usually high so our parent volunteers truly appreciate your kindness and patience as they help as many parents as possible when the shop is open.
Need items outside of shop open times? Please email pwynnum@bne.catholic.edu.au with what you need and one of our amazing parent volunteers will fill this order for you.

From the P&F
Our P&F AGM is on Tuesday 25 October 2022 from 6:30pm on the Mt Carmel campus and we would love to see you all there.
The P&F committee has a focus on supporting the school, building community relationships and social activities. At the centre of this are the children of Guardian Angels' and making the school a better place for them to learn and grow.
Information and nomination forms are attached for all committee positions. Without the wonderful support of you, our parents, in these roles many things we wish to achieve wouldn’t be possible.
Last week you received an email requesting input into the P&F's strategy for 2023. Thank you to those parents who have already taken time to complete the short survey
If you haven't already had the opportunity to do so we would appreciate it if you could take just 5 minutes to complete this simple survey to help inform our approach for next year: https://forms.office.com/r/bmRnHaKknm
With thanks,
Gill, Nikki, Kelly, Amelia and Alex

Interested in finding out more about the Catholic faith of the school your children attend?
The Catholic Church’s mission is to offer people of all ages and backgrounds the opportunity to deepen their understanding and relationship with God. Becoming Catholic involves a journey of faith through the RCIA process (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults). It’s not too late to join this year’s group of those starting this journey. If you or someone you know would like to know more about possibly becoming Catholic, please contact the parish office (3393 4980) as this year’s RCIA process will be commencing with a session at 8:30am Saturday 24 September in the Guardian Angels' church.
