Clean Up Australia Day
Term 1 | Week 4 - School News
Shrove Tuesday is next Tuesday, 21 February, and this year we will acknowledge this day and launch our Project Compassion Appeal with a pancake breakfast.
Students are asked to bring a gold coin donation for a pancake or some fruit.
A big thank you to Woolworths Wynnum who have helped to support our event.
We look forward to a wonderful morning
We would like to warmly invite you to attend session in the gathering area at the back of the Church on Tuesday 28 February at 2:30pm – 3:00pm. The focus of the session will be on the Season of Lent. We will share how as a school we will journey through Lent and we will also spend time reflecting on your own personal journey through the Season. Please come and join us as we celebrate the wonder of God’s relationship with you in Jesus Christ.
Spotlight on Learning
🌏 How does the world feed itself? 🌏
Year 5/6 started their first major inquiry this week by brainstorming what they already knew about the inquiry question "How does the world feed itself?". They activated their prior knowledge by working in pairs to come up with ideas and questions they want to answer during the topic.
Students then worked on their device to show what they know about plants and how they grow. 🌱They recorded their voice to make their work interesting and shared their knowledge with each other.
Stayed tuned to see where this inquiry takes us! 🤔💭🧐
💣 Sizzling Starts 💥
Year 3Red have been learning about sizzling starts in narrative writing. Story starts need to be exciting...not boring...so you 'hook' the reader. Here are some examples from narrative writing in 3Red.

Drop off and pick up zone volunteers
Thank you to those parents who have already so generously volunteered their time in the pick up zones. We truly appreciate your help.
We would love parent helpers in pick up zones this year. Pick up zones operate from 8:00am – 8:25am in the morning and from 2:55pm – 3:20pm in the afternoons. It's an easy 25 mins, opening car doors, helping little people in and out of cars.
If you can spare 20-30 minutes once or twice a week please email Jenny Druce at jdruce@bne.catholic.edu.au with your preferred day, time and campus.
A friendly reminder, before commencing your role as a volunteer or other personnel at our school, you are required to complete the online volunteer training. This training needs to be renewed annually and can be found here: https://www.bne.catholic.edu.au/students-parents/student-protection/Pages/Student-Protection-and-Code-of-Conduct-Training-for-Volunteers-and-Other-Personnel.aspx
You will need to download, print and complete your registration form, which is contained within your online training. Return it to the School Office prior to commencing your role.
Second-hand Uniform Shop
The second hand uniform shop is open on the first Monday of the month with the next open day on Monday 6 March.
The shop will open between 7:45am and 8:20am on the GA campus. Each item is $5. Cash only sales.
Need items outside of shop open times? Please email pwynnum@bne.catholic.edu.au with what you need and one of our amazing parent volunteers will fill this order for you.
Random Acts of Kindness Day is this Friday 17 February. Here are 25 FREE ways to celebrate Random Acts of Kindness Day. Another lovely idea from our friends at the RAK Foundation: print and colour bookmarks (template below if you need inspiration), write an inspiring message inside, and leave it inside a random book for someone to find. How will you celebrate Random Acts of Kindness Day?
