From the Library
We have an exciting event taking place at our school next month: Book Week! As educators, we firmly believe in the power of literature to inspire, educate, and ignite the imaginations of our students.
Book Week provides a unique opportunity for us to celebrate the joy of reading together as a community. By involving students in various activities, such as author visits, storytelling sessions, and book fairs, we aim to foster a genuine love for reading. We believe that instilling this passion in our children will not only enhance their academic success but also provide them with a lifelong source of entertainment, knowledge, and personal growth.
Please note the following events for your diary.
Book Fair
Our Book Fair will run from Friday 11 to Thursday 17 August. Specific times will be confirmed closer to the date.
Author Visits
Year 3-6: Jane Smith will be visiting with our upper year’s students on Thursday 24 August during class time.
https://www.janesmithauthor.com/
Prep-2: Mark Carthew will be visiting with our lower year’s students on Wednesday 23 August during class time.
Book Character Parade
This will take place in the shed on the morning of Thursday 24 August at 9:00am. This will include the Year 5/6 Red Book Week Assembly before the character parade. We encourage you to talk to your child about their favourite book characters from a book they would recommend to others and make a plan for the book character parade. Simple upcycled/recycled/handmade costumes are encouraged.
Book Week is an excellent opportunity for parents to actively participate in their child's educational journey. We encourage you to engage in conversations about books, share stories from your own experiences, and read together as a family. Your involvement will serve as a powerful example of the value and enjoyment of reading.
We sincerely hope that you will support your child's participation in Book Week and encourage their enthusiasm for reading. Together, let us foster a lifelong love for literature and ignite the imaginative spark within each of our students.
