LAST DAY OF TERM 3
TERM 4 COMMENCES TUESDAY 3 OCTOBER
Term 3 | Week 8 - School News
I was reading an article by well-known parenting editor, Michael Grose. This article outlines research highlighting that children need to develop confidence, character and resilience to support them to thrive in a contemporary society.
As parents, we know that to develop these qualities requires them to be purposefully nurtured through the words and actions that we model. It is a great article, but it reminds me that parenting isn’t easy; that it has incredible challenges, as well as amazing joys and rewards.
As parents, so much of what we teach our children is often inspired by our parents or those who have had a similar role in our lives. As we celebrate Father’s Day this Sunday, it is a time for us to reflect on those who have influenced who we are.
Pope Francis holds up the inspiring model of St. Joseph, patron saint of fathers, workers, and the universal Church, to all fathers. Pope Francis reminds us of St Joseph’s humility, selflessness, courage and love that he showed to Mary and Jesus:
"We think of St Joseph as a carpenter of Nazareth who taught the young Jesus his trade and the value of work. In this role, he served as a model for all fathers as he watched over Jesus and quietly imparted to Him that wisdom that helped Him grow on a human level, in his understanding and appreciation of his unique relationship to His heavenly Father. Just as St. Joseph was close to Jesus, you too must be guardians.” (Pope Francis)
Pope Francis expressed the importance of being close to your children and in this closeness to walk with them. As parents, he reminds us that we are the guardians of our children on their journey of growth, grace and wisdom. He reminds us that above all, your child needs you, your presence, your closeness, your love.
God took the strength of a mountain, the majesty of a tree, the warmth of a summer sun, the calm of a quiet sea. The generous soul of nature, the comforting arm of night, the wisdom of the ages, the power of the eagles flight.
The joy of a morning in spring, the faith of a mustard seek, the patience of eternity, The depth of a family need. Then God combined these qualities, with nothing more to add.
His masterpiece was complete, whom He called….DAD. (Anonymous)
Kind regards

Ditto Show - Prep, Year 1 and Year 2 students
During Week 9, our Bravehearts’ personal safety education program will be returning to school on 5 September and running the ‘Ditto’s Keep Safe Adventure Show’ for Prep, Year 1, and Year 2 students. The show has recently been updated and re-aligned to the Australian Curriculum and now includes two different shows, one for Prep students and one for Years 1-2 students.
The Ditto show is a live, interactive 40-minute performance starring Bravehearts’ mascot ‘Ditto’. The Ditto show teaches young children essential personal safety skills and knowledge using age-appropriate language, song, and dance. It provides students with personal safety tools and strategies while supporting positive self-esteem and resilience-building.
What your child will learn:
The show is underpinned by the following principles of personal safety:
- Differentiating safe and unsafe feelings.
- Recognising the bodies warning signs.
- Body ownership and that it is ok to say no.
- Helping children name public and private parts using anatomically correct names.
- Reinforcing that there is no secret that children cannot tell someone.
- What to do if you feel unsafe or unsure.
Your child will learn these essential principles through a behaviour approach to content delivery, interactive games, and age-appropriate songs. They will also learn ‘Ditto’s 3 Rules’, which are:
- We all have the right to feel safe with people.
- It’s ok to say NO if you feel unsafe or unsure.
- Nothing is so yucky that you can’t tell someone about it.
As part of the program, children are each given a Ditto’s Keep Safe Adventure Activity Booklet to take home. We encourage you to look at the booklet with your child, using the activities to help cement the personal safety messages from the show. If you would like to learn more about how to talk to your child about personal safety, please look at the parent and carers resources from the Bravehearts website:
https://bravehearts.org.au/education/dittos-keep-safe-adventure-program/
If you have any queries about the Ditto Show or would like any further information, please do not hesitate to contact the school or Guidance Counsellor, Renae Haggitt.
Reconciliation Action Plan
Our Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) has been published.
This document is updated annually and helps us to action our vision (please see below) for reconciliation at Guardian Angels’.
VISION FOR RECONCILIATION
On this Jara (Land) of the Quandamooka People, under the Biram (sky) and by the Yarabin (sea), our vision is to create and nurture our place of learning. May we deepen our knowledge, understanding and respect for the diversity and value of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander identities, cultures, and histories.
Guided by our Franciscan and Mercy traditions, Guardian Angels' School seeks to build a community that celebrates:
Belonging & Respect – We are committed to building authentic relationships with the Nunagal (Noo-Na-Gal), Goenpal (Ke-wan-pal) and NGUGI (Noo-gi) clans of Quandamooka Country. We are building a community which embraces diversity, promotes inclusion, and recognises and acknowledges the unique contribution of each person.
Excellence – We acknowledge the importance of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander events, histories and cultures through the curriculum, prayer, symbols, language, and liturgies.
Hope & Courage – We are people of faith and spirit, who believe in a united Australia. We courageously advocate for true reconciliation now and into the future.
We look forward to living our Vision for Reconciliation through our RAP, with the Guardian Angels’ community.

Angels on the Oval - THANK YOU!!
Wow! What a day! A huge thank you to everyone that helped make our annual Angels on the Oval such a success!
Thanks to our amazing team of parents and teachers who planned the event meticulously over several months, worked with our beautiful vendors managed all the social media and organized the raffle. It was wonderful to see our hard work come to fruition!
Big shout out to all the people who volunteered, tirelessly putting up gazebos, tables, barricading areas, setting up the dance floor, finding lost keys, and organizing all the drinks and popcorn, and then packing everything down at the end of the day! Without you it would not have been possible.
We would love your feedback on this year’s event and would be grateful if you could complete this short 2 minute survey: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/KXBFLGN
See you again next year!
