Term 3 | Week 10 - School News
It’s looking back over the past term that reminds us that learning is about being part of a community. A community where learning is more than reading, writing and maths. It is about being able to think critically and problem solve. It’s about being able to communicate and collaborate with others. It’s about being imaginative and creative.
While we know that each day your child comes to school to learn, we also know that each child’s learning is supported at home. The type of learning that happens by talking with your child, giving them many different experiences, teaching them to be responsible for their choices and expecting them to contribute to your family routines and activities. Over the break, there are many occasions where you can actively seek out the learning opportunities during the simple things that you do; when you are at the park, the movies or even sharing in the decisions around activities or preparing meals.
I know that as we prepare to end Term 3, all in our community can be intensely proud of the community that they’re a part of; knowing that they are in a school where they are appreciated and respected for their uniqueness. Let’s pray,
The Beatitudes of Unique Persons
Blessed are you who accept us for who we are and what we have to give
and do not try to take away that which makes us unique,
that which makes us who we are.
Blessed are you who support us by creating a warm, accepting atmosphere,
allowing us to grow and learn and make mistakes without condemning us.
Blessed are you who take the time to listen, who invite us to contribute,
for to be able to join in is to feel part of a community and never to feel lonely or afraid.
Blessed are you who help us with the graciousness of Christ,
who did not bruise the reed and quench the flax,
for often we need help, but, we do not know how to ask.
Blessed are you who are yourself unique, for you make the world a richer,
happier and better place to live.
Rejoice in the understanding that God made each of us unique
and special in different ways.
May we all learn how to encourage others more and loudly enough
so that we drown out all the negative voices.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen.
(Author unknown)
As we come to the end of a busy term, may God bless you and keep you all safe in His care over the coming holidays, and may it also be a restful and enjoyable break with family and friends.
Kind regards
Veronica Tomerini-Smith
Reconciliation Action Plan
Our Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) has been published.
This document is updated annually and helps us to action our vision (please see below) for reconciliation at Guardian Angels’.
VISION FOR RECONCILIATION
On this Jara (Land) of the Quandamooka People, under the Biram (sky) and by the Yarabin (sea), our vision is to create and nurture our place of learning. May we deepen our knowledge, understanding and respect for the diversity and value of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander identities, cultures, and histories.
Guided by our Franciscan and Mercy traditions, Guardian Angels' School seeks to build a community that celebrates:
Belonging & Respect – We are committed to building authentic relationships with the Nunagal (Noo-Na-Gal), Goenpal (Ke-wan-pal) and NGUGI (Noo-gi) clans of Quandamooka Country. We are building a community which embraces diversity, promotes inclusion, and recognises and acknowledges the unique contribution of each person.
Excellence – We acknowledge the importance of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander events, histories and cultures through the curriculum, prayer, symbols, language, and liturgies.
Hope & Courage – We are people of faith and spirit, who believe in a united Australia. We courageously advocate for true reconciliation now and into the future.
We look forward to living our Vision for Reconciliation through our RAP, with the Guardian Angels’ community.
Sports Aerobics Success
A wonderful competition season for our sports aerobics teams has drawn to a close culminating in the National Championships over the weekend with the following results:

Containers for Change
Remember that this year our stewardship committee has started a containers for change initiative. The proceeds will be spent improving our school environment. This will initially include our vegetable patches in Chestnut Street playground. If you are interested in helping us by saving your bottles and distributing them at containers for change then please choose us as your charity. Please use the QR code below.
Thank you.

From the Parish
Interested in finding out more about the Catholic faith? The Church’s mission is to offer people of all ages and backgrounds the opportunity to come to know God and God’s plan more deeply as well as to belong to the Church family. Those who enquire undertake a journey of faith through the RCIA process (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults). And, if they feel ready, they are welcomed into the Church through the reception of the Sacraments of Initiation at the Easter Vigil. If you or someone you know would like to know more about the RCIA journey, and the possibility of becoming a Catholic, please contact the parish office (3393 4980) as this year’s RCIA process will be commencing with a session in the church at 8:30am on Saturday 16 September.
Save the date – Saturday 21 October
In Term 4 we will be hosting a reunion celebration for all of the families who have taken part in the Sacramental Program this year. It will be a chance to celebrate the significant milestone that the children have made in their faith journey. The program will be between 4:30pm-7:30pm on Saturday 21 October with games for the children, as well as wine and cheese for parents, concluding with a BBQ. More details to come next term. For the meantime, save the date!
