    From the Principal

For many people, particularly our young people, the strongest role models are not generally celebrities and sports people, but family members. The people who they admire most are the real people in their lives.  As a parent, it is important to recognise that you are often the one who inspires them.  Having an interest in others and a willingness to listen to their stories is important.

At yesterday’s athletics carnival, there was so much pride in the way that the children shared in the day with those who they admire most – their parents and family!  This event, like so many others, is a wonderful opportunity to showcase the strength of presence for our students.  I thank our staff and students for their preparations, and our parents and other family members for giving so freely of their time to volunteer and to be with us throughout the day as community.

So, as we come to the end of another busy term, let’s take the ‘time to find and affirm the best of each person we meet, whether spouse or sibling, colleague or child, and enjoy the blessedness of the minutes, hours, days and years of our lives’ (Ann Rennie; Australian Catholics.com.au).

May you all have a wonderful break and may the reflection below guide you, as you seek many opportunities in the coming days, to share in the company of family and friends:

A reading based on the letter of Paul to the Ephesians:

Give yourself to one another completely.

Be generous in your giving and make no conditions for these gifts.

Love one another constantly and fully. Be humble in your acceptance of each other’s love.

Be honest with each other, be thankful for each other’s love and strive to develop its richness day by day.

Respect each other in every way.

Be patient with one another’s weaknesses and accept each other.

Communicate constantly with one another; be calm, patient, tolerant and reasonable in your communication.

Be capable of good listening. Share with one another misfortune and good fortune alike.

Be compassionate and express your love for one another constantly.

Know your limitations and be honest with yourself as you are with one another.

(Adapted from: Anne Doyle, Australian Catholics, Building Better Relationships, Spring 2009 vol 17 no 4)

Thank you to all in our Guardian Angels’ community for sharing in another great term at our school and I look forward to seeing you all again in Term 3.

    Update: P&F Advisory Group

On Monday evening, 17 June 2024, the P&F met at a Special General Meeting for the purpose of discernment and decision-making around transitioning to a P&F Advisory Model.

At this meeting, the motion to move to this model was accepted, and the current P&F structure dissolved.

The process of electing a P&F Executive for the Advisory Group was conducted, with all previous P&F Executive members accepting their nominations and being voted by the members into these roles.

The constitution is being finalised to reflect the P&F Advisory Group, and this will be shared with the community once completed.

The P&F Executive will share detailed information with the community early in Term 3.

I would like to extend thanks to the P&F Executive and members for their engagement in discussions around this model, and I look forward to continuing to work in partnership in the future.
